14th april 2007. On a lovely day the Wych Barge Volunteer was “Launched” by Peter Luff M.P.
Although at one stage it looked as if he was going to despatch the Mayor Mrs Jean Dowty.I supplied all the pictures displayed and had my name at the bottom right corner. We then went on a short canal trip while entertained with Champagne and canopies, a change from beer and sandwiches. Max

A new seating area in the shape of a barge has been unveiled in a Droitwich park.
A replica of the Wyche Barge has been created in Vines Park as part of a project to restore the town’s historic canals.
It will provide a focal point for recreation and information on Droitwich Spa and its history.
The Wyche Barge once transported salt along the areas busy waterways.
The scheme to recreate a replica won a public vote as part of the big lottery peoples millions TV programme 18 months ago.
Unveiling the Barge mid Worcestershire MP Peter Luff said: we may be cutting down on salt- but it was one of the most important products for our ancestors. A number of different groups have been involved in the project including volunteers from the Kingsfield day centre, who created the bricks used in the barges seating area.
People were also consulted on their memories of the canalwhen it was in use, to help create information panels.
