The Trow or Red Bridge with polished handrails from the children sliding down. The pub on the left is the Old Rising Sun, sadly everything gets knocked down in Droitwich.
The salt works on the right with it’s pump tower over the well. The pump rod from Gurneys Lane can just be seen above the roof on the right. I have to be gratefull to Nell Copson who has helped me research the canal history for thirty years, for this interesting photograph. Max.
Rebuilt Droitwich Barge Lock 1906
Subsidence from brine extraction was a major problem and buildings would collapse. The lock in Vines Park subsided three times and was rebuilt on each occasion, last time in 1906. Max
