basil | 11/19/2005 | 1:07 pmWorcester News 3/10/05 stated: there are plans to build two more footbridges across the Severn, thanks to a bold bid for lottery cash.
The bridges will be built at Diglis and at Gheluvelt Park also including more boat moorings along the river.
A riverside lighthouse feature has also been proposed.
The riverside park project has been set up to regenerate the riverside walks and public area.
Gheluvelt park will have a new feature explaining the significance of the 1914 battle, also new footbridges will be constructed along the park.
New development will create 422 houses and apartments at Diglis Basin, fish have been moved and the basin has been drained to allow inspection.
A second campus for the University of Worcester is due to be completed in 2008 on the five acre former royal infirmary site, costing 100 million, also a super library will be built in the Butts costing 50 million.
The 25 million lottery bid was rejected in April 2005. Today January 26 2007 the City Council has put forward a 1 million pound scheme to revamp the riverside on both sides of the Severn, between Diglis and the road bridge. The improvements will include paving repairs, new seating, improved railings, signs and public art on the route. The plans are being finalised and work should start sometime before 2010.

Dec 07 Thanks to a lottery grant, It has been announced that a new bridge is to be built across the Severn at Diglis, also access paths are to be surfaced. (All the pounds i have lost on the lottery could be put to good use).
